Job summary

TEGNA’s KPNX-TV in NBC is seeking a dynamic Meteorologist to deliver accurate weather reports on-air and online. The role involves forecasting, graphics, field reporting, and active social media interaction to engage viewers across platforms.

The candidate must have a BA/BS in Meteorology with 5–7 years of on-air experience, and be proficient posting content to websites and social channels. A valid driver’s license is required for field work.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Meteorology, Geoscience or Atmospheric Science.
• 5-7 YEARS on-air meteorology experience required.
• Proficient at posting content to various websites and social media; computer literacy including weather and newsroom systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi-platform environment.
• Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
• Produce clean, creative and informative graphics to tell the weather story.
• Fill in on other shifts when necessary.
• Write and report from the field or inside the newsroom.
• Update website and interact with viewers on social media daily.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Make public appearances
