Job summary

Squad Health is building an AI-driven platform to streamline access to specialty medications. We seek a Member of Technical Staff to help design, build, and scale critical AI systems, working directly with founders to shape architecture and product direction.

You'll lead projects end-to-end across backend services, APIs, data systems, and user-facing apps, with ample ownership and impact in a fast-growing healthtech startup in New York City.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and scaling production systems.
• Deep proficiency in Python.
• Experience across backend services, APIs, databases, and modern web applications.
• Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment.
• Ability to independently drive projects with minimal oversight.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• High ownership mentality and strong product intuition.

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions that will shape the future of the platform.
• Design and build core platform capabilities across backend services, APIs, data systems, and user-facing applications.
• Own projects from concept through production deployment (and scale!).
• Partner closely with product, operations, and leadership teams to solve complex workflow challenges.
• Improve reliability, scalability, security, and observability across our systems.
• Mentor and elevate other engineers through code reviews and technical leadership.
• Help define Squad’s engineering culture as we continue to grow the team.
