Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Medical Technologist Lead for the Chemistry Lab to oversee high-volume testing and deliver timely, accurate results. You will work with advanced instrumentation and collaborate with pathologists and clinicians to support patient care in a premier academic medical center.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (or related field) with MLS/MT certification; Basic Life Support may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field with 1 year of related experience required.
• Currently credentialed as an MLS by ASCP or MT by AMT required; additional credentials may be recognized for Blood Bank, Molecular and Microbiology.
• BLS may be required or obtained within 30 days of employment depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform, interpret, check accuracy and report results on routine and complex laboratory procedures.
• Evaluate new instruments and methods, assure correct reagent prep and quality control, lead troubleshooting.
• May perform apheresis and/or bone marrows or coordinate education, computer operations, QA duties, and supervisory functions.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field

ASCP MLS certification or AMT MT certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
