Job summary

UAB Medicine's laboratory team in the Emergency Department conducts rapid, accurate testing in a STAT environment to support immediate decisions for critical patients at Alabama’s first ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center. The role collaborates with emergency providers to maintain high-quality patient care in real time.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory or related field with at least 1 year of experience, and current MLS (ASCP) or MT (AMT) credentials.

Qualifications

• ASCP MLS certification or AMT MT certification required.
• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field with 1 year of related experience.
• Credentialed for Blood Bank, Molecular, and Microbiology may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform, interpret, check accuracy and report results on routine and complex lab procedures.
• Evaluate new instruments and methods, ensure reagent prep and quality control."
• May perform apheresis/bone marrow or coordinate education, computer operations, QC/QA, and supervisory duties.
