Job summary

Job Description

To perform, interpret, check accuracy and report results on routine and complex laboratory procedures on body tissues, fluids, and other substances according to laboratory procedure manuals. To evaluate new instruments and/or methods, assuring correct reagent preparation and quality control information, leading troubleshooting efforts and monitoring the performance of equipment maintenance. May perform apheresis and/or bone marrows or coordinate the education, computer operations, quality control/quality assurance duties, and assume the supervisory function within a section as requested.

Job Highlights

Our bedside testing team provides point-of-care testing across the health system. As part of this team, you’ll help provide oversight, training, competency assessments, and regulatory compliance for bedside testing performed by clinical staff, partnering with nurses, providers, and laboratory leadership to ensure accurate results. Your work will directly impact quality assurance, patient safety, and strengthen system-wide standardization, and you’ll gain broad exposure across the inpatient and outpatient care settings.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently credentialed as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) OR currently certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) required. Additional credentials may be recognized for the Blood Bank, Molecular and Microbiology departments. Depending on the unit/department or if the position works directly with patients, Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required or required to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
