Job Summary and Qualifications

The Lead Medical Technologist at BSMC is responsible for blood collection, testing, data entry, and assisting in other laboratory duties as directed by the supervisor or manager. Proficiency in Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Blood Bank is required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Adhere to schedules, provide coverage, and adapt to workflow changes.
2. Manage reagents, supplies, and maintain safety and cleanliness.
3. Address issues, communicate effectively, and perform venipuncture and capillary sticks.
4. Troubleshoot equipment, manage workload, and ensure timely reporting of results.
5. Supervise work assignments, perform employee evaluations, and ensure compliance with SOPs.
6. Maintain technical competency, assist with procedures, and perform quality control.
7. Identify patients/specimens correctly, perform instrument maintenance, and participate in proficiency testing.

Qualifications

Preferably one year of laboratory experience. A Bachelor's or Associate Degree must be obtained within 60 months of employment. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist must also be obtained within 60 months if not already certified.
