Job summary

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Medical Technician 2 for the Specimen Processing department. The role supports accurate handling of specimens used for cancer diagnosis and treatment, receiving and identifying samples, and ensuring processing follows established protocols.

You will lead as a technician, train new staff, and help manage competency documentation and evaluations. You’ll work to improve workflows, accuracy, and reliability in a collaborative laboratory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Basic sciences is required.
• May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in training and orientation of new technicians to learn duties.
• Maintains competency testing documentation for trainings.
• Assists section supervisor with department functions and evaluations.
• Communicates problems to Supervisor or Lab Manager as needed.
• Independently performs work and helps co-workers as time permits.
• Keeps abreast of new procedures and policies.
• Performs quality control/quality assurance and maintains records.
