Job summary

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a Medical Technician I to join the Specimen Processing department in Houston. You will accession, process, and prepare specimens for testing in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting, emphasizing accuracy, organization, and adherence to procedures.

You will operate and maintain equipment, assist with reference testing, manage inventory, and train staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; science degree preferred.
• 3 years in a clinical medical laboratory or equivalent setting.
• Ability to perform specimen accessioning and processing and operate lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform accessioning and processing of specimens including document handling.
• Prepare reagents, slides, and sterile supplies for testing.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and perform QC/calibration.
• Restock supplies and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
• Assist with reference laboratory testing and generate transport manifests.
• Train staff and students on established procedures.
• Provide strong customer service and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
