A leading healthcare system in Miami seeks a Lead Medical Technician (Phlebotomist) to oversee specimen collection and laboratory operations. The role involves training staff, ensuring quality assurance, and improving patient care. Candidates should have experience in laboratory support and phlebotomy, with strong competencies in customer service and technical skills.
The Lead Medical Technician (Phlebotomist) is responsible for supporting the Miami Healthcare System - Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Services (P&LMS) - and the Broward Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) by collecting blood specimens and body fluids for laboratory analysis for patients at the Miami VA Healthcare System.
Applicants must meet all requirements by 05/21/2025. Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements, with SF-50 documentation demonstrating this. The position requires experience in laboratory support work, including performing tests and preparing reports, or related biological laboratory work. Preferred experience includes prior lead phlebotomy roles.
Specialized experience for GS-06 includes performing specimen handling, phlebotomy, managing staffing, and supporting laboratory tests. Key competencies include attention to detail, customer service, emergency care, infection control, specimen collection, technical competence, technology application, and more. Volunteer experience is also credited.
The physical requirements involve minimal exertion, such as standing, bending, lifting, and walking, including performing phlebotomy techniques.
Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. Virtual work is not available. No relocation or recruitment incentives authorized.
