Description

Position Summary:

The Team Lead Technician maintains service operations by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding and servicing mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of all types of vehicles new and used.

Essential Functions:

  1. Review and discuss work orders with the Service Advisor and/or Supervisor.
  2. Inspect engine operation, road test vehicle and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices.
  3. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel, brake, steering, tires and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive equipment.
  4. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufactures performance specifications.
  5. Perform scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  6. Perform a multi-point inspection on every car inspected.
  7. Consult with the Service Advisor on work performed general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements.
  8. Assists in developing skills by apprentices and Technicians by sharing knowledge and direction of vehicle maintenance/repairs
  9. Review completed work by Apprentices and Technicians to ensure safety and provide feedback.
  10. Assist in training of the shop tools, equipment, and Tech Stream diagnostic tool.
Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  1. Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, diagnostic equipment, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance; diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs; safety practices and procedures.
  2. Working knowledge of electrical systems including computerized induction and ignition systems.
  3. Ability to problem solve; analytical and critical thinking; work weekends and holidays; read, write and prepare repair orders; test drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers; follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications, communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  4. Possess your own tools; a valid driver’s license; a valid mechanical certificate from Miami-Dade County; ASE certifications and/or a minimum of two years of experience or graduate of an automotive trade school.
  5. Must maintain factory required training as well as local licensing requirements.
