Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking a Supervisor, Medical Laboratory to lead laboratory staff, ensure credentialing compliance, and maintain high quality testing processes. The role reports to the Assistant Director or Director, Medical Laboratory.

The supervisor will oversee complex tests, QA programs, and staffing coverage across core lab areas, ensuring accurate results and efficient operations in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a high-complexity testing environment.
• Ability to supervise lab personnel and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of CLIA and DNV credentialing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the work of assigned lab personnel.
• Perform complex tests on patient samples with advanced equipment.
• Support staff with examining blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells.
• Establish and maintain QA programs to ensure accuracy of results.
• Ensure lab coverage scheduling for call-outs, weekends, and holidays.
• May work across core lab areas: Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion, Toxicology, Molecular Diagnostics.
• Evaluate and implement new instruments and tests.
• Manage requisitions and orders.
• Ensure compliant reporting/documentation of results.
