Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist Group Lead in Grand Rapids, MI. The role requires leadership in performing high-complexity tests, serving as a technical resource, and assisting the Lab Supervisor with workflow and staff development.

The position emphasizes adherence to SOPs, QC, and regulatory requirements while ensuring timely reporting of results during a standard Mon-Fri schedule. Strong mentorship and collaboration within the department are essential.

Qualifications

• Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience as a Medical Technologist within the designated discipline.
• Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF.
• The United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.
• ASCP Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in all duties of a Medical Technologist I and II.
• Perform and report on assigned analytical tests with SOP adherence and QC.
• Support lab policies for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, and records.
• Adhere to schedules to maintain turnaround times including STATs and critical results.
• Act as a technical resource, investigate analytical issues and advise on corrective actions.
• Assist Lab Supervisor with workflow monitoring, staff training, and performance input.
• Optimize production flow and coordinate resolution of department issues.
• Maintain safe, functional lab environments and participate in annual competency testing.
