Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center in Houston, TX, is seeking a Supervisor Lab to oversee daily laboratory operations under the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager. You will ensure timely, accurate processing of specimens and compliance with accreditation standards, while promoting patient safety and cost-effective service.

The role requires a MT/ASCP or equivalent certification, five years of generalist lab experience, plus one year histology/cytology, and the ability to manage staff

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: Degreed Medical Technologist/Technician, MT/ASCP, MLT/ASCP or other certification recognized by Laboratory Certification Agencies.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily laboratory activities to ensure prompt, efficient and accurate work.
• Reviews, writes and updates technical procedure manuals.
• Assists in data collection for statistics or reports from the Department.
• Ensures staff competencies are performed annually.
• Performs/oversees complex lab procedures across bacteriological, hematological, chemical and immunological testing.
• Maintains quality control and proficiency testing per policy and CAP/JCAHO standards.
• Promotes patient safety and cost-effective care while maintaining high quality standards.
• Leads efforts in performance improvement and ensures compliance with accreditation bodies.
