Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Kent Campus. The role ensures efficient day-to-day laboratory operations, supervises testing, and serves as a resource for problem solving in collaboration with the Laboratory Manager.

The Lead oversees specimen handling, turnaround times, and staff competencies, stepping in as acting supervisor when needed to maintain quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree with biological sciences & chemistry coursework.
• Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology acceptable for incumbents pre-2005.
• Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist credential required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of assigned lab sections and adjust workload in real time.
• Perform and supervise testing, reporting, and customer service per policy.
• Monitor inventory, reagents, and instrument maintenance; coordinate vendor services.
