Job summary

Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, GA is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor/Medical Technologist to lead all aspects of the assigned section, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in testing. You will oversee records, policies, and quality controls, collaborate with colleagues, and guide test validations to support physicians in diagnosing and treating patients.

A hospital background and ASCP MLS certification by hire are required.

Qualifications

• 3 years of hospital laboratory experience required.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Certification as a medical technologist or MLS as per Georgia regs required upon hire; provisional not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department, including preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures.
• Analysis of testing methodologies, employee training/staffing, technical oversight, and compliance.
• Assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within assigned area.
• Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• 3 years of hospital experience Required
• Previous lead or supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
