Job summary

Piedmont Fayette Hospital is seeking a Lead Medical Lab Scientist, Chemistry to oversee the laboratory section on the 7a-3:30p shift. You will manage records, policies, and testing procedures while coordinating with management and staff.

The role requires a hospital background, leadership experience, and ASCP/AMT/AAB certification eligibility, with a strong focus on quality control and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or life/biological sciences preferred.

Lead Medical Lab Scientist, Chemistry

Overview:

Shift Info: M-F 7a-3:30p

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of laboratory management, is responsible for leading all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department, including preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures; analysis of testing methodologies, employee training/staffing, technical oversight, and compliance. Works in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals and achievements are coordinated with management. Assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within assigned area. Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Bachelors Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• 3 years of hospital experience Required
• Previous lead or supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
