Job summary

Piedmont Newton Hospital is seeking a Laboratory professional to lead all operations in the assigned section, ensuring proper records, compliance, and quality control. You will collaborate with management, assist with validations, and perform tests to support physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in clinical laboratory science or equivalent, 3 years hospital experience, and ASCP/AMT/AAB certification at hire.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science or related field preferred.
• 3 years of hospital experience required.
• Lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• ASCP/AMT/AAB certification required by hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department; maintain records, reports, policies and procedures.
• Coordinate tasks with management; ensure priorities and goals are met.
• Assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance.
• Perform a variety of laboratory tests to support physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of laboratory management, is responsible for leading all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department, including preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures; analysis of testing methodologies, employee training/staffing, technical oversight, and compliance. Works in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals and achievements are coordinated with management. Assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within assigned area. Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• 3 years of hospital experience Required
• Previous lead or supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
