Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center seeks a Supervising Medical Coder to lead the ambulatory coding team across Texas Tech Physician clinics. You will supervise, audit, and coach staff while ensuring timely and accurate coding aligned with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM guidelines.

The role requires a minimum of five years in medical coding/auditing and one year of supervisory experience, with CPC or CCS certification obtained within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and at least 5 years of progressively responsible medical coding or coding auditing experience, plus 1 year of supervisory experience.
• CPC certification or CCS certification to be obtained within 12 months of hire and kept active.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the ambulatory coding team and ensure timely and accurate coding of outpatient encounters.
• Monitor staff productivity and quality; provide coaching and feedback for professional growth.
• Perform coding and auditing functions to understand workflows and coding complexities across specialties.
• Collaborate with Coding Manager, Compliance, and Revenue Integrity to ensure CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM guidelines.
• Assist in developing and implementing coding policies, procedures, and standard work.
