Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Medical Coding Review Position to evaluate medical record documentation and assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.

You will review records, ensure comprehensive documentation, and collaborate with physicians to secure signatures and resolve unsigned dates of service. The role requires coding credentials (AHIMA or AAPC) and knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or a specialty credential).

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to identify facts necessary to select diagnoses and procedures.
• Code evaluation and management to CPT; assign ICD-10 codes.
• Meet with physicians to review documentation and secure signatures for unsigned dates of service.
• Assist coders with terminology and policy interpretation as needed.
• Help increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
• Prepare case reports and initiate follow-up for billing.

Education

AHIMA/AAPC coding credentials (CCA/CCS/CCS-P or CPC etc.)
