Anduril Industries seeks a Staff Development Engineer to join the Internal Capabilities Development (ICD) team in Costa Mesa, CA. This hands-on technical leadership role drives large-scale test capabilities from concept to commissioned hardware, while building a team and scalable processes.

You will own mechanical design, fabrication drawings, and integration of PLC controls, LabVIEW/NI DAQ, and instrumentation.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Electrical or Aerospace also considered).
• 8+ years hands-on experience designing and building test equipment or complex electromechanical systems.
• 2+ years leading or mentoring engineers or technicians (2–5).
• Expert mechanical design and CAD proficiency with fabrication drawings and GD&T.
• Hands-on fabrication experience: welding, CNC machining, 3D printing, and assembly.
• Experience designing and integrating hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.
• Working knowledge of PLC controls, NI DAQ/LabVIEW, electrical enclosures, instrumentation.
• Own ambiguous problems end-to-end and deliver hardware with minimal oversight.
• Experience establishing or improving engineering processes in a fast-paced environment.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Aufgaben

• Lead development of large-scale test capabilities from requirements and concept through fabrication and commissioning.
• Own mechanical design and CAD for custom test equipment, including subsystems.
• Produce fabrication-ready drawing packages and work with machine shops.
• Perform and oversee fabrication work: laser cutting, waterjet, welding, machining, assembly.
• Lead and mentor a 2–5 person team of engineers, technicians, and interns.
• Triage capability requests, set priorities, escalate only critical decisions.
• Standardize ICD processes: intake, design reviews, build procedures, documentation.
• Oversee PLC controls integration, LabVIEW/NI DAQ, instrumentation, electrical enclosures.
• Lead build-vs-buy analyses and advocate for internal builds when beneficial.
• Partner with ETC and product teams; support design and test readiness reviews.
• Promote safety culture and maintain capital equipment.
• Travel to test sites and remote labs as needed.
