Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking a subject matter expert in Mechanical Systems to join the Technical Staff in Engineering. The role focuses on aerospace structures, mechanical design, kinematics, and material selection, with leadership over critical engineering tasks and collaborations with customers.

The successful candidate will lead technical reviews, mentor teams, and drive standardization across tool chains and processes, with preference for candidates holding advanced degrees and extensive industry

Qualifications

• In-depth aerospace structures experience and technical leadership.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, kinematics, and materials.
• Experience with aerospace manufacturing methods and drawings.
• Familiarity with structural analysis methods and test data interpretation.
• Ability to lead IRAD projects and interact with customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical discipline leadership in reviews, mentorship, and design.
• Collaborate on mechanical design reviews at all stages.
• Mentor junior engineers across the team.
• Create standards and tool chains for engineering excellence.
• Lead problem-solving teams for high-impact challenges.
• Develop and maintain engineering capability roadmaps.
• Propose and lead IRAD projects for IP and growth.
• Support proposals and front-end business efforts.
• Assist recruiting and hiring activities.
