Job summary

BlackSea Technologies, a US-based firm in Maryland, seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 6–15 years of vessel experience to lead a small team designing and outfitting an undersea vessel. You will handle layouts, weight/strength calculations, and system integration using COTS and custom parts, with HMIs in a challenging marine setting.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to traverse boats. A security clearance is preferred, and travel up to 3 trips/year is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–15 years of vessel/mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with 3D design tools and Finite Element Analysis.
• Experience coordinating a small technical team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to board and traverse boats/ships.
• Existing security clearance (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team on outfitting and arrangements for an undersea vessel.
• Provide technical leadership, oversight, and outputs to the team.
• Manage cost and schedule metrics and contribute to proposals.
• Support integration of systems and HMIs for a challenging marine environment.
• From concept to detailed design, prototype, testing, and production phases.
