Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to support space hardware design and analysis in aerospace programs. You will contribute to R&D and small-volume production with emphasis on reliability in extreme environments across GEO, MEO, LEO and beyond.

Lead structural/thermal analyses, CAD design (SolidWorks), tolerance analysis, and participate in design reviews and testing. U.S. security clearance is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience with analytical calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
• CAD design experience, preferably SolidWorks.
• Tolerance analysis and GD&T practices.
• Space hardware design, analysis, integration, and test.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design and analysis support to diverse R&D programs and small-volume production contracts
• Lead the structural and thermal analysis of mechanical systems for space and airborne hardware
• Work within a multi-disciplined project team
• Responsible for mechanical design and analysis activity, and support integration and formal acceptance-test activities
• Projects vary from packaging high reliability electronics subsystems to opto-mechanical mechanism design such as gimbal and steering mirror systems
• Other duties as assigned
