Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead the mechanical design and packaging of RF payload hardware for the TeraWave satellite network. You will guide architecture trade studies and collaborate closely with RF, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust mechanical solutions.

The role requires mentoring junior engineers, driving design for manufacturability, and delivering high-reliability components suitable for space environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of mechanical design and packaging experience for complex electronic hardware systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX).
• Experience performing structural and thermal analyses using analytical methods or finite element software.
• Experience applying GD&T principles and ASME Y14.5 in mechanical designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and packaging of mechanical structures for phased array antennas and RF payload hardware assemblies.
• Direct thermal management strategies for high-power RF payload electronics, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses to validate RF payload mechanical designs.
• Lead architecture trade studies to define mechanical packaging approaches for RF payload hardware across programs.
• Serve as technical point of contact for RF payload mechanical design, coordinating with electrical/RF teams.
• Provide technical leadership to suppliers and manufacturing partners for producibility of RF payload mechanical hardware.
