Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to lead mechanical design for RF payload hardware supporting the TeraWave satellite network, including phased array antennas and RF module packaging.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with RF and electrical teams, guide manufacturability with suppliers, and perform thermal and structural analyses to ensure reliability across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 6+ years of mechanical design and packaging experience
• Experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5
• CAD tools for assembly modeling

Responsibilities

• Lead design and packaging of mechanical structures for phased array antennas and RF payload hardware assemblies.
• Direct thermal management strategies for high-power RF payload electronics, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses, including tolerance stack-ups, to validate RF payload mechanical designs.
• Lead architecture trade studies to define packaging approaches for RF payload hardware across programs.
• Serve as technical contact for RF payload mechanical design, coordinating with electrical and RF teams.
• Provide technical leadership to suppliers and manufacturing partners, ensuring producibility.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts across programs to align packaging with electrical interfaces.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on RF payload packaging design and analysis practices.
