Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for its Advanced Technology team in the Protection, Control and Solutions group. You will design and prototype mechanical systems for power electronic based circuit breakers, driving robustness and safety across low and medium voltage applications.

You will coordinate with marketing, manufacturing, and customers, executing new product development from inception to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in new product design, development, testing and optimization.
• Experience with Pro-E/Creo or SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of switching mechanism design, thermal management and magnetics optimization.
• Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DC/AC power supplies, capacitor banks, and high-speed cameras.
• DFSS tools knowledge.
• Hands-on magnetic actuation development and testing.
• Knowledge of industrial circuit breaker design.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems and subsystems for low voltage and medium voltage applications.
• Prototype, test, and iterate to ensure product reliability and safety.
• Collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, quality, and customers.
• Lead new product development from concept through validation and production release.
• Develop technical requirements with marketing and applications teams.
• Create test programs and protocols to verify design criteria.
• Generate technical reports, presentations, and IP where appropriate.
• Mentor team members and prioritize project tasks.
