Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical development of its mobile robot product line. You will own hardware from concept through production, collaborating with contract manufacturers to ensure quality and cost targets.

Responsibilities include 3D modeling, BOM creation, and assembly tooling while applying DFx principles for high-volume production. The role requires hands-on problem solving, cross-functional teamwork, and travel up to 25% to manufacturing or partner

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in mechanical engineering, with robotics or electromechanical systems preferred.
• Experience with contract manufacturers and production issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical development of a mobile 4-wheeled robot product line from concept to end of life.
• Design mechanical assemblies, create 3D models, drawings and BOMs in SolidWorks.
• Apply DFM/DFA for high-volume production and cost optimization.
• Interface with contract manufacturers; support production builds and RCCA inspections.
• Lead design reviews, ECNs, and PLM updates; develop jigs and fixtures; support PPAP/FAI.
• Travel up to 25% to manufacturing or partner sites.
