Job summary

CEL Critical Power in Williamsburg, VA is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design LV switchgear, create schematics in EPLAN, and ensure UL/IEC compliance across projects. You will coordinate with Mechanical Design and Production, select components, and develop GA drawings.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in electrical design for switchgear or power distribution, proficiency in EPLAN, and strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent— required.
• Additional training in power systems or switchgear design is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Design low voltage switchgear assemblies in accordance with UL standards and project specs.
• Develop complete electrical schematic drawings using EPLAN to project accuracy.
• Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings in coordination with Mechanical Design.
• Select and size electrical components (ACBs, MCCBs, contactors, relays) suitable to each project.
• Perform fault level and load calculations, cable sizing and thermal analysis.
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all designs.
• Support FAT procedures and prepare technical documentation to standard.
• Coordinate with Production and Suppliers to ensure design feasibility and delivery.
