Job summary

IPS, Integrated Project Services, LLC, in Emeryville, CA, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering Group Lead to head a small team of engineers responsible for HVAC/Utilities design within life sciences facilities. You will mentor and develop talent while directing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

You will oversee design processes, coordinate with PMs, ensure high-quality deliverables, and drive staffing plans to match our business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of professional engineering experience in mechanical design, including HVAC and utilities.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
• Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences, or Laboratory industry experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Write scopes of work for mechanical designs (HVAC/Utilities) based on preliminary review and client meetings.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new HVAC/Utilities systems.
• Analyze the operation of existing systems.
• Assess project requirements, break it into tasks, and work with Project Managers to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing.
• Regularly review mechanical progress and alert the PM to any changes in scope; maintain quality per company standards.
