Job summary

Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and R product systems for both commercial and defense markets. The role involves heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems from concept through testing and production.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with at least two years of experience, strong documentation skills, and proficiency in CAD tools like CREO and AutoCAD Mechanical 2D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 2 years' experience.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies and components including machined parts, welded structures and sheet metal.
• Ability to write and create technical documentation.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support projects for development and support of mechanical equipment, heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems
• Develop design drawings, BOMs, and documentation for fabrication and delivery of products and prototypes
• Perform sizing, selection, and performance predictions for HVAC&R equipment
• Create technical manuals and procedures
• Review customer specs and develop compliant designs for product development
• Coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure on-time project delivery
