Job summary

Stantec in Knoxville, TN and Lexington, KY seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection designs for water and industrial facilities. You will manage design phases from concept through construction, develop BODRs, and coordinate with multiple disciplines across North America.

The role requires a PE license (or NCEES-ready), 7+ years of experience, strong communication, and the ability to mentor EITs while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with NCEES ready for licensure.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for municipal and industrial projects.
• Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for projects.
• Prepare design documents including drawings, specs, and OPCC.
• Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and visit construction sites for conformance.
• Create HVAC load calculations for building systems and distribution sizing.
• Create Plumbing calculations for water, sanitary, and storm systems.
• Apply applicable design codes and standards per project needs.
• Coordinate design with other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor engineers in training (EIT) to develop skills.
• Travel to job sites in-state and out-of-state (approx. 5%).
