Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for pharmaceutical and life sciences capital projects in the Huntsville area. The role focuses on planning, design, and execution of complex facilities, including cleanrooms, process utilities, and equipment installations.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve production capacity, regulatory compliance, and startup readiness, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in mechanical engineering.
• PE license or progress toward licensure strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in pharma/biotech or life sciences facility projects.
• Experience in FDA-regulated and cGMP environments.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary capital projects with scope, schedule, and budget responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering efforts for complex pharma/biotech and advanced manufacturing facilities.
• Serve as Mechanical Engineering Lead on capital projects including facility modifications and expansions.
• Drive project execution from planning through startup and qualification.
• Develop engineering solutions for process utilities, facility systems, and clean utility infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
