Machina Labs is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Aerospace & Defense to lead mechanical design from concept through production, owning engineering documentation, and mentoring engineers. The role includes releasing CAD models, managing the PDM system, and ensuring designs are producible, robust, and scalable for fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design process from concept through production drawings and documentation.
• Create and modify designs for defense products including missile and aerospace structures.
• Identify producibility issues related to forming, welding, machining, trimming, fixturing, assembly, inspection, and integration.
• Serve as the engineering release authority for CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and data.
• Administer and maintain the PDM system, including workflows, revision control, and permissions.
• Develop high-quality CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Establish engineering drawing standards, GD&T, DFM guidelines, and best practices.
• Mentor engineers on design principles and documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve producibility and reduce lead times.
• Identify risks early and drive design improvements for quality and scalability.
• Participate in customer discussions, reviews, and cross-functional meetings.
• Support continuous improvement across engineering documentation and workflows.
