Job summary

Daikin Applied in Staunton, VA is seeking a Senior Designer to translate concepts into manufacturable drawings and BOMs, supporting small to large projects with a focus on quality and cost. You will create engineering documentation using Solidworks and drafting tools, and collaborate across marketing, sales, and manufacturing.

Required are a technical degree in design/drafting or CAD, 4–6 years of related design experience, and proficiency with Solidworks and DraftSight.

Qualifications

Design experience in sheet metal and HVAC products.
Familiar with AMSE Y14.5 design and drafting standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Excel for data organization.
SolidWorks mechanical fundamentals.
DraftSight basic understanding.
Willingness to travel 10–15% internationally.
SolidWorks electrical (optional)

Responsibilities

Create engineering documentation, including SolidWorks modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards.
Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
Collaborate with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or modifications to meet weekly production schedules.
Demonstrate design sense and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking.
Complete work within determined time frames and use sound judgment for goals.
Be part of and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
Understand legacy BOM systems and product structuring logic.
Demonstrate creativity, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
Lead or participate in special team projects.
Provide guidance to Designers and mentor junior staff.
