Job summary

Leidos is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the Defense Systems Mechanical Design & Analysis team in Huntsville, Alabama, to design the next generation of radar systems and lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to deliver on scope, cost, and schedule.

You will direct a team of engineers, coordinate cross-functional efforts with subsystem leads, manage risks, and represent the IPT in design reviews and governance forums. A senior level of experience and a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Eng from ABET-accredited university.
• 12+ years of applicable experience or 10+ years with MS.
• Experience leading a team of engineers to meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Strong SolidWorks user.
• Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Strong desire to lead, guide, and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Own overall execution performance for the IPT scope.
• Lead cost, schedule, and technical performance alignment for the hardware team.
• Ensure program commitments are executable and aligned to baseline objectives.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver on program objectives.
• Partner with subsystem leads and engineering teams to ensure alignment to goals.
• Drive disciplined execution and proactive risk management across the IPT.
• Identify, assess, and manage IPT risks and opportunities.
• Develop and implement mitigation plans to address risks and capitalize on opportunities.
• Provide clear status communication to leadership and stakeholders.
• Represent the IPT in governance forums and lead design reviews.
