Job summary

Leidos' Defense Systems Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the team in Huntsville, Alabama, designing the next generation of radars to protect America and its allies. You will lead an Integrate Product Team (IPT) and coordinate across subsystem leads to ensure requirements, schedule, and budget are met.

You will guide engineers, review designs, and drive disciplined execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 12+ years of applicable experience or 10+ years with MS degree.
• Experience leading a team of engineers to develop solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements
• Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Own overall execution performance for the IPT scope.
• Lead cost, schedule, and technical performance alignment for the hardware team.
• Ensure program commitments are executable and aligned to baseline objectives.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver on program objectives.
• Partner with subsystem leads and engineering teams to ensure technical alignment supports program goals.
• Drive disciplined execution and proactive risk management across the IPT.
• Identify, assess, and manage IPT risks and opportunities.
• Develop and implement mitigation plans to address risks and capitalize on opportunities.
• Provide clear and concise status communication to leadership and stakeholders.
• Represent the IPT in governance forums and lead design reviews.
• Maintain compliance with contractual requirements and internal governance standards.
• Drive issue resolution across functional boundaries to ensure program success.
• Promote a culture focused on outcomes, execution discipline, and continuous improvement.
