Job summary

Recology is seeking a Journeyman mechanic to perform maintenance on vehicles and landfill equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing powertrains, hydraulics, electrical systems, and processing machinery.

The role requires extensive mechanical experience, safety knowledge, and the ability to lead and train others. A Class A/B CDL and formal trade training are preferred, with benefits and growth opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Formal mechanical trade school highly desirable.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with no restrictions required within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in waste/recycling industry preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel and/or natural gas engines and heavy equipment components.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, tests and repairs vehicles and heavy landfill equipment.
• Diagnoses, tests and repairs refuse vehicle and transfer trailer body systems.
• Maintains processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, hoppers and motors.
• Performs basic fabrication with welding equipment and torches.
• Manages parts, tools, and supplies in the shop.
• Completes paperwork and entries accurately in systems.
