Job summary

Roberts Hawaii is seeking an experienced mechanic to ensure the safe operation of the company fleet by performing unsupervised repairs and preventive maintenance under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.

The role requires diagnostic skills, supervision of junior technicians, ability to generate work orders, and flexibility to work weekends, nights, and holidays; a strong toolbox and relevant ASE certifications or Hawaii license are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of work experience as a Mechanic II and/or related training.
• Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, division).
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Five ASE certificates or Hawaii State Mechanic License required.
• Must have Type 3 License with a valid traffic abstract.
• Must own hand tools.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Operational knowledge of basic shop equipment and hand tools.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and correct mechanical discrepancies (minor and major repairs).
• Train and supervise underclass technicians (Mechanic II, Mechanic Helper).
• Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Coordinate job assignments based on technical abilities.
• Generate written work orders daily for tasks and accomplishments.
• Maintain clean, organized shop area; ensure safety and compliance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
