Job summary

Roberts Hawaii is seeking a maintenance technician to ensure safe condition of all company vehicles through minimal supervised repairs and preventative maintenance. You will assist experienced mechanics, train junior staff, diagnose discrepancies, and complete daily work orders in a busy shop.

The role requires a minimum of two years as a mechanic helper or related training, basic math skills, and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of two (2) years work related experience as a mechanic helper; and/or training (e.g. technical / trade school preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Able to calculate basic math
• Able to speak, read, write English
• Minimum two (2) ASE certificates (e.g. Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Engines, Power-train (drive-line), Air Conditioning, Transmission, Engine Diagnosis, etc.) or Hawaii State Mechanic License Preferred
• Must have minimum Type 3 License with a current valid Hawaii Driver History Record.
• Must own basic hand-tools (e.g. sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, etc.)
• Must be able to work flexible days / hours – weekends, nights, holiday
• Operational knowledge of basic hand tools required
• Operational knowledge of basic shop equipment (e.g. vise, press, floor jacks, etc.) required

Responsibilities

• Assist 1st class mechanics with repairs
• Trains (supervises) underclass technician (i.e., mechanic helper)
• Performs diagnosis and corrective action of reported mechanical discrepancies within ability
• Performs routine repairs and preventative maintenance
• Generates written work orders on a daily basis to account for task(s) accomplishment(s) work performed
• Performs general house-keeping of shop area
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
