Job summary

Recology Auburn Placer is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain, inspect and repair landfill equipment and vehicles, ensuring safety and continuous operation. The role encompasses diagnosing heavy vehicle systems, performing basic fabrication, and supervising teammates on occasion.

The ideal candidate has four years of journey-level mechanical experience, knowledge of diesel or CNG engines, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic or equivalent.
• Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel and/or CNG engines and heavy equipment components.
• Knowledge of electrical controls and motor systems.
• Familiarity with safety rules and OSHA/Cal/LOC requirements.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; trade school desirable.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, tests and repairs vehicles and heavy landfill equipment including powertrains and drivetrains.
• Diagnoses, tests and repairs refuse vehicle and transfer trailer systems such as hydraulic and electrical.
• Maintains processing equipment like balers, conveyors and motors.
• Performs basic fabrication work using welding tools.
• Orders and maintains shop parts, tools, and supplies.
• Completes paperwork and enters data accurately.
• Acts as a lead worker by directing others and reviewing tasks.
