Honeywell Aerospace Materials Engineering in Torrance seeks a Lead Materials Engineer (Mechanical Design) to guide technical direction across design, manufacturing, and supplier activities. The role emphasizes welding, metallurgical disciplines, and hand‑on problem solving in a fast paced environment.

You’ll lead multi‑discipline teams, train engineers, and drive lifecycle activities from design reviews through aftermarket support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Material Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years experience working in materials engineering disciplines.
• Experience with Aerospace metallurgical processes, mainly Welding and metal joining (brazing).
• Experience performing drawing reviews to ensure material and process requirements are met in Honeywell Aerospace designs.
• Understanding of regulations and business processes enabling rapid Honeywell Aerospace execution.

Responsibilities

• Establish regular partnership with Materials Engineering management on technical matters.
• Provide technical leadership to foster the Materials Engineering organization.
• Train, coach, and mentor engineers to execute technical tasks and projects.
• Lead across the product lifecycle: material selection, design reviews, production support, and aftermarket support.
• Represent MatEng in external customer and regulatory engagements.
