Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in materials engineering disciplines.
  • Aerospace metallurgical processes expertise with welding/metal joining (brazing).
  • Experience in drawing reviews to meet customer/internal material/process requirements.
  • Regulatory awareness and ability to influence high-impact decisions.
  • Knowledge of aluminum, titanium, stainless steels, nickel-based alloys; castings/forgings/heat treat.

  • Provide technical leadership for Materials Engineering.

Job description

  • Provide technical leadership for Honeywell Aerospace Materials Engineering
  • Perform problem resolution activities across supply chain, programs, engineering, and external suppliers
  • Serve as the Materials Subject Matter Expert in welding, metal joining, and metallurgy
  • Establish regular partnership with Materials Engineering management regarding technical projects, risks, mitigations, and results
  • Act as a role model technical leader fostering the Materials Engineering organization
  • Provide technical and behavioral training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Participate in all product lifecycle phases, including material and process selection, design reviews, production support, and aftermarket support
  • Champion training and professional growth initiatives for less experienced engineers
  • Participate in technical special process groups and provide support to Honeywell Aerospace sites and suppliers
  • Represent Materials Engineering in high-impact customer and regulatory engagements
  • Develop Aerospace-level engineering processes and guidelines
Requirements
  • Bachelor in Material Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years experience working in materials engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with aerospace metallurgical processes, primarily welding and metal joining, such as brazing
  • Experience performing drawing reviews to ensure customer and internal material and process requirements are incorporated into aerospace designs
  • Recognized industry authority with high-impact observable results
  • Understanding of relevant regulations and business processes
  • Knowledge of other metallurgical processes including castings, forgings, heat treat, brazing, and metallic materials testing
  • Knowledge of aluminum, titanium, stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys
  • Proven team and project leadership skills
  • Proven influence in high-impact decision-making
  • Technical training, coaching, and mentoring capability
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Quality systems AS9100 and NADCAP requirements
  • Assertive and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws, defined as a U.S. permanent resident or person with protected U.S. asylum or refugee status
