Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned M&P Engineer to support aerospace materials and processes, including contamination control and space-vehicle qualification. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams and coordinate internal/external M&P activities, ensuring adherence to NASA standards and industry best practices. The role requires a strong background in materials and process development, testing, and documentation, with travel to vendor sites as needed.

A B.S. is required; an M.S.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Aerospace, Material Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ Years of demonstrated M&P Engineering experience on a production flight or space program.
  • In-depth knowledge of NASA contamination requirements, associated standards, characterization methods, and industry best practices.
  • Strong familiarity with NASA-STD-6016 and contamination control requirements for space vehicles.
  • Experience in materials and manufacturing process review and selection, development, and qualification for aerospace applications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of components, materials, and processes.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for material data analysis, including MMPDS, MAPTIS, and CMH-17.
  • Experience organizing and managing materials and process-related data in a company accessible database.

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad support for aerospace-grade materials and processes, including aluminum, steel, inconel, copper, bronze, and soft goods.
  • Support forming, extrusion, plating, coating, welding, brazing, anodization, passivation, and related processes.
  • Support design, analysis, materials selection, process development, and M&P qualification for space vehicles.
  • Support contamination control engineering and verify implementation of contamination control requirements across vehicle systems.
  • Provide design engineering support for contamination control.
  • Lead and coordinate characterization and qualification efforts for contamination control design solutions.
  • Systematically review production drawings for large complex assemblies and document reviews against established requirements.
  • Release engineering drawings for parts and assemblies as an M&P signatory.
  • Coordinate internal and external M&P efforts, including specifications, supplier qualification, First Article Inspection, mechanical testing, and customer-facing updates.
  • Support development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate material evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within the Lunar organization and other business units.

  • Experience running ambient, elevated temperature, and cryogenic thermomechanical testing (desired)
  • Experience planning and executing material allowables or qualification programs (desired)
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace‑grade materials characterization techniques, such as SEM, EDS, metallography, ultrasound, micrography, and mechanical testing (desired)
