Job summary

Builders FirstSource, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler in Indianapolis, IN. You will move and track materials, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and support production goals with precise handling and safety in mind.

The role requires a 4-year related experience with a high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally, and flexibility to perform climbing or kneeling tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED with 4 years related experience.
• Work is performed in a production environment with temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, noise, and dust.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally.
• May be required to perform tasks involving climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.

Responsibilities

• Physically handles materials to optimize movement; lifts, carries, and stacks items as needed.
• Records movement of incoming and outgoing materials and verifies accuracy of work performed by self and others.
• Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment; some may require specialized training.
• Plans and assigns work tasks to Material Handlers to meet production goals.
• Trains employees in required tasks, including handling techniques, machinery use, and safety guidelines.
