Job summary

Department of the Navy is seeking a Marine Machinery Mechanic Leader to support work at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound, Norfolk, Trident Bangor, and Pearl Harbor facilities. The role requires leading teams, applying marine mechanical expertise, and interpreting technical manuals and blueprints to ensure critical dimensions and references are correct.

Applicants must be able to travel to CONUS/OCONUS sites, obtain security clearance, and comply with DoD employment requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience and training showing the quality level of knowledge and skill to perform duties at the required level.
• Screen-out element: Ability to lead or supervise is required to be eligible.

Responsibilities

• Layout, install, align, overhaul, repair, and maintain marine machinery and systems.
• Use test equipment and measuring devices to solve problems and determine materials.
• Operate machine tools to manufacture or remanufacture components such as bushings and pistons.
• Disassemble, repair, and rebuild shafts, propellers, engines, and sea valves.
