Job summary

Moran Towing Corporation is seeking a Chief Engineer for Moran Transportation, a full-time role aboard a tug vessel, reporting to the Captain. You will oversee safe operation, machinery maintenance, and logs, with duties spanning fuel, oil transfer, parts inventories, and on-board support.

Required STCW endorsements, medical cert, passport, and TWIC; preferred Bachelor's in maritime field and 5 years at sea as engineer. Competitive benefits and pay transparency apply.

Qualifications

• STCW endorsement as Chief Engineer or equivalent (OCIEW/Life Boatman/VPDSD)
• Current Medical Certificate
• Valid passport
• Valid TWIC

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Safety Management System (SMS) policies and report unsafe conditions.
• Liaise with off-going engineers to understand machinery and status; hand over duties on watch changes.
• Keep Captain and shore management informed of unusual conditions affecting safety, schedule, or repairs.
• Maintain Engine Log, Oil Record Book, and maintenance/repair records.
• Ensure monthly fuel and lube oil reporting, collect samples and log in Bunker Log.
• Supervise fuel oil, lube oil, waste oil, and ballast water handling.
• Complete Declaration of Inspection entries as PIC and document in Oil Transfer Manual.
• Monitor spare parts quality and inventories of engineering supplies.
• Assist onboard the barge as needed and complete maintenance tasks as assigned by Captain.
