Qualifications

Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC) required or, if exempt, applicant must apply within 60 days of start date.
TWIC required.
STCW certification if required for service.
USCG 719k Medical examination meeting Merchant Mariner Medical certification.
Pre-Employment Drug Screening required.
Maritime experience aboard a vessel preferred.

Responsibilities

Familiarize with current operational status on joining a boat with the off-going engineer.
Turn over duties to relief personnel.
Report unsafe situations or opportunities for improvement.
Complete general and planned maintenance schedules.
Keep Captain and shoreside management informed of conditions affecting vessel or schedule.
Maintain accurate engine logs and maintenance records.
Monthly fuel and lube oil reporting.
Supervise procurement, loading, use and transfer of potable and ballast water, fuel oil and lube oil.
When acting as PIC, complete and sign proper entries on the Declaration of Inspection form.
Monitor quality and condition of engineering supplies.
Maintain inventories of spare parts and tools.
Work on deck including ship docking and tug mooring operations.
Act as lookout.
