Job summary

Moran Towing Corporation in Baltimore is seeking a Port Engineer to lead the engineering efforts for the Moran fleet, reporting to the General Manager. The role emphasizes safety, maintenance programs, and direct support to tug Captains and Engineers.

The candidate will oversee vessel repairs, regulatory compliance, and capital projects while coordinating with regional and corporate engineering. The position requires strong initiative, safety leadership, and the ability to travel as needed, with

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Marine Engineering experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain TWIC documentation (including meeting the physical requirements of the USCG 719K physical exam).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Ability to travel when required, including air travel.

Responsibilities

  • Actively ensures safety of personnel and equipment is a priority before, during and after all work.
  • Reviews daily engineering reports from vessels, as applicable.
  • Implements and monitors the Preventive Maintenance Plan.
  • Manages and performs vessel repairs.
  • Recommends capital improvement projects to the General Manager.
  • Ensures compliance of regulatory and ABS class obligations.
  • Purchases engine department spares and consumables.
  • Assists in developing marine engineers with development in training and qualifications including approval of their knowledge.
  • Seeks out and implements cost-saving measures, where appropriate.
