Job summary

Moran Towing Corporation is seeking a Chief Mate for Moran Transportation. The Chief Mate is second in command aboard the vessel and supervises crew, reporting to the Captain. This full-time role requires extensive maritime experience, STCW endorsements, and proven leadership and navigation skills.

Qualifications

• 15 years’ experience within the industry with progression options.
• 10 years as Captain on smaller Moran vessels or 10 years as Chief Mate on Moran vessels.
• 15 years as Chief Mate on non‑Moran vessels with at least 1 year on Moran vessels.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Captain’s lawful orders.
• Review vessel status with off-going Chief Mate on joining.
• Consult with Captain on vessel operations and handle situations.
• Report unsafe conditions or policy breaches.
• Assist with training of crew and perform duties as assigned.
