Job summary

Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services in Maryland seeks a Manager-III to lead the Residential Plan Review staff and ensure public safety through accurate application of residential building, structural, electrical, mechanical, and energy conservation codes.

The role supervises plan reviews for new construction and alterations, coordinates with builders and officials, and oversees a seven-person team to deliver timely reviews and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in residential construction.
• Two years of supervisory experience in plan review or related area.
• Equivalency may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical expert for the County’s residential plan review operations.
• Manage engineering and technical assessment of a high-volume portfolio.
• Oversee amendment and adoption of local and State codes; review legislation.
• Engage with builders, developers, architects, engineers, and officials to explain regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders.
• Provide leadership to seven staff; assign cases and conduct quality reviews.
• Develop goals, monitor performance, and maintain client service.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
